FAQ

How long will transcription take?

Transcripts are generally completed within 48 hours of receiving the materials. Ask for an estimate if you are sending a large amount of material at once. Rush turnaround (less than 24 hours) is often available at an additional cost.

What formats can be transcribed?

VHS, DVD, and all common digital audio/video formats (.mp3, .wav, .avi, .mov, .mp4,) are fine.

What format is the finished transcript?

Finished transcripts are emailed in Word .doc format. See a layout sample here.

How can I send you my digital files?

An FTP server is available for file transfers. Files may also be emailed if they are small enough for your mail server to handle.

What is the cost?

Hiring a freelance transcriber is much cheaper than a large transcription house. Billing is done by audio duration, not by hours worked, so there are no surprises. Email mark @marktypes .com for an estimate.

I have a lot of material, can I get a discount?

Yes! Discounted rates are available for clients with over twenty hours of material. This is particularly useful for documentary series and features. Be sure to mention how much material you are anticipating when asking for an estimate.

Do you outsource to other transcribers?/Are you hiring?

No, all work is done by myself. Please do not send resumes.
